IIT Guwahati Pioneers in Speech Recognition Technology

In IIT Guwahati, under the supervision of Prof. Samarendra Danadapat , department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering and led by Dr L. N Sharma of IIT Guwahati the team including Pharvesh Salman Choudhary, Sibasis Sahu, Debasis Jyotishi, Moirangthem James Singh, Samarjeet Das, and Yengkhom Omesh Singh.

The team at IIT Guwahti developed " LOQU" , derived from the Latin word means "to speak or talk" the concept of this technology is to captures vocal fold movement without disturbing procedures utilizing sensors placed over the throat. Researchers have made a major progress in speech technology, which will generates a human speech signal directly from vocal cord vibrations.

The goal of this technology is to offer a practical solution with clear and comparable speech signals. As told by Prof. Samarendra their aim is to empower those in need and drive impactful innovations in the medical and communication domain.

As compare to traditional speech the reconstructed speech signal all in large comparison test. These results hold significant potential for individuals struggling with speech impairments, offering a viable alternative to traditional microphones and enhancing speech clarity.
