The institution was formerly associated with the University of Pune but is now part of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Nashik and has been recognized by the NMC. In the world of medicine, social responsibility and science exist harmoniously. In 1995, MAEER'S MIT Pune built the Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education and Research (MIMER) Medical College at Talegaon Dabhade, close to Pune, India, in order to realize the goal of producing such dedicated medical professionals.
The Maharashtra Academy of Engineering Education and Research (MAEER), a society and trust, was established with only the goal of developing professional education facilities to train the interested young generation and ultimately to provide committed, ambitious, and skilled professionals to serve society and the country at large.
According to Swami Vivekanand, "The union of Science and Spirituality alone will bring Harmony and Peace to Humanity." The vision of the founders of MAEER is to create a “Centre of Excellence in the field of Education and Research”.
Since it was established, MAEER has worked to improve society by promoting a system of education founded on moral principles. It has experienced amazing success in a short period of time and reflects excellence in the fields of engineering, medicine, research, management, primary and secondary education, peace studies, environment and pollution control, as well as towards promoting human values and achieving the ultimate goal of world peace. It currently has over 50,000 students from various disciplines under its wing. The motto of MAEER’s is "To harness the knowledge of Science and Technology for the welfare of Society".
1. Anatomy
One of the foundational areas of the medical curriculum is anatomy, which deals with the study of human body tissue, including its gross and microscopic structure, development, and functions. It is the branch that lays the groundwork for all other clinical specialties, but particularly for the surgical specialties including general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and ENT. Gross Regional Anatomy, Clinical Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Osteology, Radiology, Living & Surface Anatomy, and Genetics are the several subfields of anatomy study. The subject is taught using a combination of regular lectures, histology practicals, lecture-cumulative demonstrations, and cadaveric dissection throughout the first professional year.
2. Biochemistry
Cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, immunology, microbiology, pharmacology, toxicology, as well as the sciences of inflammation, cell injury, and cancer, all benefit greatly from biochemistry. These intimate connections highlight how vital biochemical processes and reactions are to life as we know it. Biochemistry that is medically relevant provides students with just enough knowledge to enable them to understand the fundamental mechanisms by which a biochemical error results in a disease, as well as potential diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. 3. Microbiology
In order to deal with the etiology, pathogenesis, pathogenicity, laboratory diagnosis, treatment, control, and prevention of various infections and infectious diseases, it is important to understand the natural history of infectious diseases.
4. Forensic Medicine
Medical students are prepared for their medical, legal, and social responsibilities in the medical profession through the study of forensic medicine, which combines the fields of law and medicine. Since its establishment in 1995, this department has been growing. During their second and third years of the course, M.B.B.S. students are taught by the Department both theoretical and practical aspects of forensic medicine, medical jurisprudence, and medical ethics, as well as toxicology. The goal is to create a doctor or medical professional who is knowledgeable about the law as it relates to medical practice and who can assist the criminal justice system in the administration of justice. The department features a committed group of highly skilled and knowledgeable teachers.
5. General Medicine
The medicine department is fully functional, has experienced faculty, and has four teaching units. There are nine well furnished, contemporary ICU-CCU units. The department also has an HD & PD facility in its nephrology unit. The department runs specialized clinics for diabetes, cardiology, and neurology.
6. Dermatology
The Department of Dermatology was founded in 1995 to provide UG instruction, and the Postgraduate Diploma Course (CPS) was launched in 2007. In 2011, a postgraduate degree program (MD in DVL) was launched. Each year, we serve 20–30 thousand OPD patients.
In addition to core dermatology, various postgraduate students receive training in cosmetology, dermatosurgery, lasers, and leprosy.Academic activities are carried out on par with those of other top universities.The connection in this department goes well beyond the simple student-teacher relationship.Students acquire not just the highest educational standards but also strong moral principles in order to benefit society as a whole. More than 10 CPS kids and 20 PG students have been framed.
One of the highest OPD patient counts can be seen at this department. Over many years of tireless faculty labor, the trust of patients has been built.
7. Pediatrics
The MIMER Medical College has had a pediatrics department since its beginnings. Since 1995, it has been training MBBS undergraduate students. Along with general pediatrics, neurology, endocrinology, well baby clinic, high risk clinic, child psychology clinic, vaccination center, ROP clinic, hearing assessment & speech, the department offers excellent clinical facilities. The department contains indoor facilities such a general pediatric ward, NICU, and PICU, as well as emergency services in the casualty area.
8. Orthopedics
The Department has advanced from a humble beginning in 1997 to its current premier standing. In the past, it primarily handled trauma cases from Maval's interior as well as from neighboring roadways.
Super specialist treatment options like arthroscopy, joint replacement, hand surgery, and pediatric orthopedics have recently been added. The first two students in the 2014-started postgraduate program graduated in 2017. The National Medical Commission also approved the proposal to raise the number of seats to six after it recognized postgraduate degrees. The Department has led the way in research and publication activity that has been recognized even at the national level.
9. Ophthalmology
In 1995, MIMER Medical College established an ophthalmology department as a component of its undergraduate program. Since that time, Dr. Prajakta Sambarey has been integral to both the launch of the department's teaching programs and the development of clinical services. The MS Ophthalmology Postgraduate Course began in 2011. Currently, NMC has approved the department to accept 5 MS ophthalmology seats.
Their average daily outpatient volume is 100, and we average 200 operations per month. Modern tools including the Humphrey Perimeter, fundus camera, FFA facilities, OCT machine, AB scan with pachymeter, YAG laser, and Green laser are available in the department.

Dentistry is characterized as an art and science that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of dental flaws that don't need to be corrected with full-coverage restorations. Such treatment should improve the patient's overall health and welfare by restoring the right tooth form, function, and aesthetics while maintaining the physiologic integrity of the teeth in a healthy interaction with the surrounding hard and soft tissues. 12. Central Research Laboratory
Research on the relationship of nanobiomaterials and biotechnology is being conducted at the Central Research Lab (CRL). In order to further biomedical research and discoveries that will benefit society, CRL seeks to empower and facilitate scientists and medical professionals. The development of new nanomaterials and platforms for the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of illnesses, such as cancer, submucosal fibrosis, and transparent pregnancy prognostic, is the main emphasis of CRL research. In order to lower infections in hospitals, CRL is also working in developing clinically significant technologies for Covid-19 and wound dressing materials.
13. Physiology
The first-year MBBS students who have just been admitted are taught the fundamental principles underlying the normal functioning of the human body in the department of physiology, with the goal of utilizing this knowledge in the practice of medicine. The physiology of today is the medicine of tomorrow, as the British physiologist Prof. Ernest Henry Starling correctly stated. Extensions of physiology include pathology, medicine, and pharmacology. Here, we place the utmost emphasis on transferring knowledge about how the human body typically functions. Only someone who is familiar with the ordinary can understand atypical behavior when it happens. An essential component of physiology is research.
14. Pathology
Between the initial learning stage of pre-clinical science and the final phase of clinical subjects, the discipline of pathology serves as a crucial link. In order to fully understand the natural history and clinical symptoms of the disease, it is essential for students to have an in-depth understanding of the causes and mechanisms of disease. The department follows a course curriculum established by NMC and MUHS to accomplish this purpose.
One important department that provides diagnostic services is pathology. By offering accurate and timely diagnostic and prognostic information, it plays a significant part in patient care. The field of pathology is divided into several subfields, including histopathology, cytology, hematology, clinical pathology, and transfusion medicine.
15. Pharmacology
In the second year of the MBBS program, students learn the subject of pharmacology, which is concerned with the study of pharmaceuticals and medications. Additionally, this department has been offering a 3-year PG course called MD (Pharmacology). The focus of mental health care has shifted over the past 50 years from hospitalization to community-based psychiatric therapy. As a result, general hospital psychiatry departments as well as those at medical schools have gained significance. Since the Institute's founding in 1995, there has been a department of psychiatry. It contains a fully functional OPD facility with 30 hospital beds. The department runs psychiatric specialty clinics and offers community outreach mental health services through several centers affiliated with the institute. 22. Anesthesia
A crucial connection between the surgical faculty and the patients undergoing various surgical procedures is the Department of Anesthesiology. Their speciality serves as the foundation for all clinical departments. Anesthesia services are offered for a wide range of surgical patients, keeping up with the advancements in the medical sciences. These include orthopedics, oral and facio-maxillary surgery, general surgery, pediatric surgery, obstetrics & gynecology (including family planning situations), and ophthalmology. 23. Clinical Research and Incubation Center
On December 2, 2019, the Department of Clinical Research & Incubation Center was founded. The major objective is to promote a research culture among the teachers and students and to serve as a "common umbrella" for all research-related activities carried out by the school.
