FMGE means Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. The exam is a screening test. It is the test taken by the foreign students, NRIs and ORCs to get a registration certificate from NMC or National Medical Commission. It is a licensing test and not an entrance examination to get placed in any college or university.
The FMGE exam is divided into subsets of medicine.
Anatomy : This subset comprises questions from general anatomy, regional anatomy, elements of anatomy, embryology, human genetics, surface anatomy, histology, radiological anatomy and sectional anatomy taught during MBBS.
Physiology : This subset comprises questions from general physiology, nerves and muscles, kidneys, endocrine glands, cardiovascular system, central nervous system, body fluids, gastrointestinal tract, skin and body temperature, reproduction, respiratory system and special senses taught during MBBS.
Biochemistry : This subset comprises questions from cell and subcellular structures, isotopes and applications, amino acids, proteins and pesticides, nucleic acids, vitamins, digestion and absorption from gi tract, carbohydrate metabolism, protein and amino acid metabolism, minerals, tissue biochemistry, nutrition and energy metabolism, hydrogen ion concentration, carbohydrates, lipids, enzymes, biological oxidation, intermediary metabolism, lipid metabolism, purine and pyrimidine metabolism, biochemical genetics, liver functions and protein biosynthesis taught during MBBS.
Pathology : This subset comprises questions from cell injury, immunopathology, circulatory disturbances, nutritional and other disorders, hematology, respiratory pathology, hepatobiliary pathology, reproductive system, musculoskeletal system, neuropathology, ocular pathology, inflammation and repair, infectious disease, growth disturbances and neoplasia, genetic disorder, cardiovascular pathology, pathology of kidney and urine tract, lymphoreticular spleen, diseases of breast, endocrine pathology and dermatopathology taught during MBBS.
Microbiology : This subset comprises questions from general microbiology, bacteriology, systematic virology, mycology, clinical microbiology, immunology, general virology and parasitology taught during MBBS.
Pharmacology : This subset comprises questions from general pharmacology, cardiovascular system, drugs affecting blood and blood formation, respiratory system, endocrine pharmacology, psychopharmacology, chemotherapy, clinical pharmacology and rational drug use, autonomic nervous system, diuretics, autocoids and related drugs, gastrointestinal system, central nervous system, drugs in anesthesia practice and toxicology taught during MBBS.
General Surgery : This subset comprises questions from hemorrhage and shock, skin tumors, venous disease, wounds, disease of muscles and tendons, umbilical granuloma, oral health, breasts, craniocerebral injuries, genitourinary system, urinary bladder, urethra, vasectomy, esophagus, spleen, appendix and other types of surgeries taught during MBBS.
Anesthesia : This subset comprises questions from anesthesia, its definitions and procedures taught during MBBS.
Orthopedics : This subset comprises questions from orthopedics, its definitions and procedures taught during MBBS.
The preparation for FMGE should be done adequately and you need to have some things in mind for the exam.
