It is a medical college situated in Hyderabad,India.It was established in 1984 and comes under private ownership. The total number of enrollment for this college is 867 and out of that it takes only 236 candidates in which there are 201 faculty students.It offers the course of MBBS, Postgraduate degree or diploma and superspeciality courses. The college has 150 MBBS seats for students from various parts of the country.
The college is affiliated to Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences from Warangal and got affiliated here in the academic year of 2016-2017. Before that, the college has been affiliated to DR. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. The course teached here is by the instructions of the Medical Council of India. Thus, making the college recognized by the Medical Council of India.
About the College
The Deccan College of Medical Sciences is governed by the Darussalam Educational Trust under the instructions of Article 30(1) of the Constitution of India. It is a Muslim minority college, it allows non-minority students to take admission in the college.
It is one of the oldest and most accepted medical colleges in the state of Telangana. It has a lot of modern infrastructures, state-of-art equipment and highly qualified and motivated teachers and teaching staff which got 150 students to take admission in the college.

1. Pre- Clinical Departments : There are three courses in this department which are anatomy, biochemistry and physiology.
- Anatomy : This medical science deals with the structure of the human body and is one of the oldest sciences in medical history.This topographical study has not remained hidden from the technological process done within the years. The advancement of light microscopy and micro- dissection has implemented new discoveries over the years in the field of Histology, Cytology and Embryology etc. The department of Anatomy of Deccan College of Medical Sciences has contributed towards various causes over the years which also has been taught here in brief along with some of the best practical sessions given here.
- Biochemistry : This medical science broadly deals with the areas of chemical languages of life. Advances in Biochemistry such as Gene Therapy have an enormous impact on human life. An equal mixture of both biology and chemistry, biochemistry has been divided into three subjects which are Structural Biology, Enzymology and Metabolism. It focuses on understanding the chemical basis which further allows biological molecules to give rise to the processes that will occur between living cells and between cells, by which in turn relating greatly in the understanding of tissues and organs as well as organism structures and functions with the help of study of Biochemistry.
- Physiology : Physiology is the study of how the human body works which we get to understand with the help of medical sciences. It defines the chemistry and physics behind the working of a human body, from how molecules behave in a working cell to making of tissues and further making of organs from tissues and organ systems from the organs. It helps us understand what happens in a healthy body in everyday lifestyle and what is wrong when someone falls sick.
2. Para- Clinical : There are four courses offered under this curriculum which are Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine.
- Pathology : There are recurring changes happening in the field of Pathology, Cytology, Haematology with the advancement of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology, Molecular Cytogenetic and Immunohistochemistry. It has been easier to diagnose diseases and also give classifications of them with various specific malignancies. Therefore, Cytology is rapid and cost effective.
- Pharmacology : Pharmacology is a lively scientific discipline with an importance of providing a basic need for the usage of drugs to furnace the pathological disturbances. The Deccan College of Medical Sciences are trying to help out with the effects of the Department of Pharmacology of the college to identify the lone facts and contribute to the Drug Research.
- Microbiology : Microbiology, the field of medical science is one of the largest subset fields in the area. It is applied for medicine which is a branch of medical sciences concerned with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of an infectious disease. In addition, this field relates to the study of sciences with various clinical applications of microbes for the improvement of our health. There are four kinds of microorganisms which spread infectious diseases in our body which are: Bacteria, Fungi, Parasites and Viruses and there is one type of infectious protein which is called Prion.
- Forensic Medicine : Forensic Medicine which is also called Legal Medicine deals with the application of medical knowledge to aid in the administration of justice. It has been used by the legal authorities to solve legal problems over the years. Forensic Pathology is Pathology which focuses on determining the causes of death by examining a dead corpse. A post mortem is performed by the medical examiner, usually during the investigation of criminal law cases and civil law cases in some jurisdictions.
3. Broad Speciality (Clinical) : This field of study includes 16 major subjects which are Community Medicine, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, General Medicine,General Surgery, Pediatrics,Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Accident and Emergencies, Anaesthesiology,Dentistry, Dermatology,Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry,Pulmonology and Radiology.
- Community Medicine : This branch of medicine deals with the health of a larger population. It tries to diagnose, prevent and treat various diseases which can affect the general population at once. These diseases include seasonal diseases including cough, cold, fever and other diseases such as dengue, typhoid and malaria.
- Ophthalmology : It is a branch of medicine and surgery which associates with the diagnosis and treatment of various eye diseases. An Ophthalmologist is a specialist in Ophthalmology. This requires a regular MBBS degree followed by the four to five years of specialization in Ophthalmology.Ophthalmologists are allowed to use medications to treat various eye disorders, implement laser therapy and perform surgery when required.
- Otorhinolaryngology : Otorhinolaryngology is a branch that deals with the surgical and medical management of the conditions of head and neck. Doctors who are specialized in this are called otorhinolaryngologists. They are head and neck surgeons, or ENT surgeons. Patients seek treatment from them for the diseases of ear,nose,throat, base of skull, head and neck. These commonly include the functional diseases which affect the senses and activities of eating, drinking,speaking, breathing, swallowing and hearing. In addition, the doctors also treat tumors related to these areas.
- General Medicine : The department of General Medicine associates to general medical problems and medical emergencies. It links all the departments and specialities to the hospital and is managed by an excellent and competent group of doctors which include consultants, senior residents and postgraduate trainers. This field of study covers diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases, medical research and many other aspects of health. Its aim is to promote and maintain wellbeing and promotion of health.
- General Surgery : General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid glands. This field also deals with various diseases involving the skin, breast, soft tissue, trauma, Peripheral artery disease and hernias and it performs endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
- Pediatrics : Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dealing with the health and medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from the birth and up to the age of 18. The word “pediatrics” means “healer of children”. Pediatrics has been a new medical specialty, developing from the mid-19th century.
- Orthopedics : Orthopedics is a branch of medicine which focuses on the care of the musculoskeletal system. This system is made up of muscles,bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons. Orthopedists use both surgical and non-surgical treatment to treat a variety of musculoskeletal issues, such as sports injuries, joint pain, and back problems.
- Obstetrics and Gynaecology : From the course in history this field of Obstetrics and Gynecology has witnessed an enormous expansion in clinical and basic data as well as tremendous growth in field related technology. Our Goal and Objectives will be fulfilled further if our young junior doctors and post-graduates follow the same path of study and honesty.
4. Super- Speciality (Clinical) : There are 13 courses offered in this field of study. This are Cardiology,Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery,Neurology, Neurosurgery,Medical Gastroenterology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Plastic Surgery, Nephrology, Urology, Pediatric Surgery, Endocrinology, Immunology and Rheumatology and Oncology.
- Cardiology : This study of medicine is a branch of internal medicine which diagnoses disorders of the heart. It diagnoses and treats various heart diseases such as coronary artery diseases.
- Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery : It is the field of medicine which is associated with the surgical treatment of organs inside the thoracic cavity which includes hearts and lungs.
- Neurology : Neurology is the branch of medicine science which covers the study and treatment of disorders of the nervous system. The nervous system is a complex, trivial system which maintains various activities of the body. It is divided into two parts: brain and spinal cord.
