In 1996, the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital, and Research Center was founded. The vision and desire to establish one of the top colleges, hospitals, and research centers in Maharashtra and across the nation were those of Dr. P. D. Patil, chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune. His efforts were successful, and Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital, and Research Center was established with the support of the Honorable Dr. D. Y. Patil, Ex-Governor of Bihar and Tripura.
A constituent part of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth in Pune, which has been re-accredited by NAAC (3rd Cycle) and has been certified by ISO 9001: 2015 as a "Deemed to be University," is the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Center. In accordance with Notification No. F. 9-39/2001-U.3 dated January 11, 2003, the Government of India has granted the Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre the status of University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune (DPU) originally had just one institution. It has multiplied over the past 20 years! Nine additional professional institutes were founded during that time and were placed under the main Institute's supervision. In the fields of medical, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, optometry, biotechnology, management, ayurveda, homeopathy, and distance learning, the nine institutions of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, has established a brand name known as "DPU" today.
About 4500 students are receiving high-quality education from these institutions. The Vidyapeeth stands out from other educational institutions thanks to its cutting-edge facilities and committed faculty. All of the programs provided by these Institutes are duly acknowledged by the relevant Councils, including MCI, DCI, INC, CCIM, CCH, AICTE, and UGC, among others. According to the University Grants Commission's (UGC) letter dated April 20th, 2018, the Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth in Pune has been classified as a "Category-I Deemed to be University" under the UGC [Categorization of Universities (only) for Grant of Graded Autonomy] Regulations, 2018.

1. MBBS
Admission Procedure :- Through National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
Eligibility :- Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRI's), Overseas Citizen of Indian (OCI's), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO's) & Foreign Nationals are eligible for appearing in the NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG), 2020
The Birth Certificate indicating name of the candidate, Secondary School Certificate i.e. SSC or equivalent examination certificate or School Leaving Certificate endorsing the date of birth will constitute a valid proof.
The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination i.e. Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC/12 Standard) or the equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
A candidate belonging to Open Category must have obtained not less than 50% (i.e. 150 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination. A candidate belonging to constitutional reservation and constitutional reservation with a Person with disability claim must have obtained not less than 40% (i.e. 120 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination. Persons with disability in the General category must secure not less than 45% marks (i.e. 135 out of 300) in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination.
