The college was founded in 1959 by the Warangal Regional Medical Education Society with the support of the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Sanjeev Reddy. He was the director of medical services and the provider of medical education in Arunachal Pradesh. The college was inaugurated in 1959 by Health Minister of India Sri P. Karmarkar. The teachings were originally given in the building donated by the Waddepally family and it was moved to its originally constructed building in the year 1961 in November.
About the College
The college of Warangal took around 152.17 acres of the land. The permanent building was constructed at the cost of 47 lakhs. It was inaugurated by Mrs Indira Gandhi in 1966. The temporary sheds which were constructed earlier with the cost of 10.70 lakhs were used by the boy’s hostel in 1961. The permanent building for the girls’ hostel was constructed in the year 1970 by Sri J. Chokka Rao. The college has a cinematographic auditorium of 500 registers which was built at the cost of 4 lakhs. The government had built a guest house inside the college campus. There is a cloakroom, canteen, bank and post office just outside the college.

- Forensic Medicine : This branch of medicine is a criminal specialty which tells the reason of death in cases which are hectic to solve
- Community Medicine : This branch of medicine deals with the health and well-being of the community. It takes care of diseases which are commonly spread throughout the community. These diseases are fever, cold, cough, dengue, malaria and typhoid.
- General Medicine : Another name for this field is Internal Medicine. This branch deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of various diseases that are related to the internal organs
- Pediatrics : This branch deals with the study of health of children that are infants up to the age of 18 years.
- Dermatology : This branch of medicine deals with the good health of skin, hairs and nails.
- Psychiatry : This branch of medicine deals with the good health of mental health. The doctors use various methods to diagnose and treat these diseases
