University college of medical science was established in 1971 by the efforts of the Health Minister of Delhi. Then, the health ministry argued for a college for students, where they can study and make themselves credible for a better future. The health ministry proposed to provide medical education to every student who qualified, even with the presence of other two universities in Delhi, many students couldn't get the right for medical education, they were denied education because of many political and cultural reasons.
The first batch for University college of medical sciences started in the year 1971, where the education in the department of chemistry was proposed to the eligible students. With the collaboration, around 125 students were posted for clinical training and practicals at the Safdarjung Hospital. The additional 50 students were sent to other medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Shortly afterward the first clinical practice of the college, it was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in South Delhi. In 1986, the University College of Medical Sciences was shifted to its original location at Dilshad Garden and became associated with Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
Now in 2023, University College of Medical Sciences is affiliated to The Delhi University, which serves as a teaching college and hospital for the students. The Academic Qualification :- Students must complete the 10+2 examination with a percentage of 50% for General category students. Including their completed degree program with 10+2 certificates from recognised boards of education, students are required to pass their NEET examination first in India.
Age limit : Age of the candidate should be more than 17 years. Students are required to take admission within the years of their NEET examination results have been announced.
Subjects should be Physics, Chemistry & Biology and also must have English as a compulsory subject during the course of their education in India.
