In order to achieve the aforementioned goals, the S.A. Engineering College was founded by the Dharma Naidu Educational & Charitable Trust in 1998–1999 in compliance with the Tamil Nadu government's overarching strategy of placing a strong emphasis on technical education.
The campus comprises 2.25 lakh sq. ft. of developed area, spanning over a large expanse of around 42 acres, and comprises classrooms, drawing halls, labs, workshops, and related facilities. As a testament to the excellent quality system that is being used for the institution's management and goal-achieving, m/s. TUV NORD has achieved ISO 9001: 2008 accreditation. The school holds an NAAC "A" Grade certification and has departments that are NBA Accredited.
